CSRA Women Veterans Organization

Did you know there are over 2 million women veterans living in the United States? We have over 140,000 here in the state 2.

Now, a nonprofit serving these female veterans is becoming a visible presence in the Augusta area.

The Augusta chapter of Veteran Women’s Organization started in 2009. It provides services to female veterans who can often feel lost and alone as they transition from ‘civilian service’.

The CSRA Women’s Veterans Organization offers advocacy services for health care, placement and more…acting as a liaison between veterinarians and assisting agencies.

Gloria J. Hamilton is commanding officer of Women Veterans Organization of the CSRA.

“Actually, it’s very scary and it’s not as simple and easy as you think. So we make sure they know their VA rights, they are connected, they register, they get the advice they might need, any professional help they might need.

Women veterans are invited to participate in the annual Gâterie Nos Patriotes event on Saturday, June 8th.

“So this is an opportunity to highlight these women who are veterans who have served. To give them a little massage, some free donations have been made for us to give them dresses. We will ask the college to do analyzes blood. We have people who have donated jewelry just to make them feel good about themselves and to say thank you. All the homeless women who come in, we have hygiene bags that we will provide to them. We’re also going to have VA register women for VA services and they can log into the VA transition center if they need to Just a chance to talk a bit with the network and kind of a love of our women veterans.

The Pampering our patriots day is Saturday, June 8, 10 am to 14 pm at HEAL complex on the campus of Paine College. facials, haircuts, manicures, pedicures and free massages. For more information, send an email to [email protected]
