David Terry named Director of Livingston County Veterans Services Office

The Livingston County Board of Supervisors approved a new chief for the county’s Veterans Services Office on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with David L. Terry being unanimously appointed after serving in an interim position since July.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Terry has served as Deputy Director of Veterans Services for the past five years, where he was instrumental in representing the interests of county veterans and their families.

“I am grateful to the Livingston County Board of Supervisors for their confidence in me,” Terry added. “I look forward to continuing to support and assist our veterans and am excited to find ways to collaborate and empower those who served in our county as we strive to create meaningful and impactful programs.”

A graduate of SUNY Brockport with a BA in English, Terry has led the development of numerous initiatives and recently forged a partnership with Veterans One Stop Center of Western New York to engage veterans while providing events to help foster a sense of community.

Additionally, Terry helped establish a historic collaboration between the county and the Genesee Valley BOCES to envision and ultimately create the Livingston County Veterans Monument, which opened in 2021. A breathtaking display of military commemoration , the Livingston County Veterans Monument was made with the help of local veterans and is shaped like the flag of the United States adorned with nearly 250 poppies – a symbol of recognition for those who gave their lives in the service of our nation.

“We are very pleased to see David named director of the Office of Veterans Services,” said David LeFeber, who is chairman of the board of oversight. “His dedication and passion for our veterans is unwavering and we look forward to building on the successes his office now embodies.”
