Nemo Farmer is a well-known local veteran who served bravely in World War II and the Korean War. Farmer traveled the world as a fire control technician aboard several Navy ships during his twenty years of service. A fire control technician works on a ship’s big guns. Upon retiring from the navy, Farmer worked for 25 years as an electrical engineer. He and his wife Patsy moved to Palm Coast in 1989. They have now been married for 72 years. You may have met them through their many community volunteer activities, including as friendly greeters at the hospital for many years. Both Farmers are long time members of VFW Post 8696. Farmer has received many awards during his life. He is very proud of the French Legion of Honor, awarded a few years ago for his role in the liberation of France during World War II. It is the highest French distinction. Farmer just turned 97.
