Hardee’s donates food to veterans’ organization

NEWTON COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) – Hardee’s is using the month of June to salute our veterans. There was a food drop off at Newton Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday morning.

“It’s important to us at Hardee’s because a lot of our employees who come to eat at our restaurants are veterans, and they give to us and our employees every day, and we just want to salute them for that. they did,” said Ron Mason, district manager at Hardee’s. “It’s for what they’ve done and what they’ve given that we live in a country where we could have this free enterprise system and be able to serve them.”

It was Hardee’s first food delivery to the cemetery. Friends of Mississippi Veterans Affairs officials say they were honored by the food donation.

“I am very happy that 5 of my 9 board members were able to attend today, and we will have a short board meeting once this is over and we really appreciate Hardee’s and WTOK for having us given this coverage,” Jack Winstead said. , the president of Friends of Mississippi Veterans.

The food was also dropped off just in time for the Friends of Veterans of Mississippi board meeting. At the meeting, the organization discussed plans for a Sporting Clay & Golf Classic fundraiser to be held October 11-12.

“It was just a skeet shot for two years, we raised $80,000 the first year, $130,000 last year, we added the golf tournament this year and our goal is to raise $200 $000 this year,” Winstead said. “All of this money will be donated to benefit veterans, to veterans’ retirement homes, and for wreaths across America, and gifts to veterans.”
