Heather Walrath of Navy Mutual receives the Excellence in Education Award from Lieutenant Timothy Dix Bolles

ARLINGTON, Va., November 12, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Navy Mutual Aid Association (“Navy Mutual”) is proud to announce that Heather Walrath won this year’s Lieutenant Timothy Dix Bolles Excellence in Education Award.

“As a military spouse, Heather knows firsthand the importance of financial education in the military community,” said Michelle Ramos Domingo, general counsel of Navy Mutual. “Her passion for service to military families has led her to many volunteer positions including Air Force Family Support Centers and Tax Centers, mentoring squadron spouses, and Military Spouse Advisory Councils.Her volunteer work later transitioned into a full-time career as a Certified Financial Advisor.Over the past 25 years, Heather has touched the lives of countless military families.

Walrath is currently a Certified Financial Educator and Financial Advisor at Navy Mutual. As part of the education team, Heather speaks one-on-one with military members and spouses and provides group presentations to military members and families across the country to increase their knowledge and understanding of financial matters. . His areas of expertise include military and survivor benefits, including the Thrift Savings Plan and the Survivor Benefit Plan.

Last year, Navy Mutual educators gave 700 presentations and reached nearly 19,000 members of the military community.

The Lt. Timothy Dix Bolles Excellence in Education Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated dedication to fulfilling a fundamental tenet of our mission by educating the military and uniformed service community about financial security issues. In 1879, Lieutenant Bolles was assigned by the Secretary of the Navy to special duties as the first secretary-treasurer and chief operating officer of Navy Mutual.
