Summary of Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this advertisement, 03/10/2022. Time-in-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are currently federal employees and have held a GS rank at any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet the Time-in-Grade requirements by the closing date of this advertisement. For a GS-10 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The rank may have been in any profession, but must have been held in federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-spent eligibility must be submitted with your application. You must provide a copy of your most recent SF-50 that shows proof of status and indicates time in rank (for example, you were a career or conditional career employee) and identifies title, series, grade, step and salary of your position. , duration and type of service (competitive or excepted). If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly show that you are one year old, as required by the announcement. . In this case, you must also submit your most recent promotion or rank increase in addition to your recent SF-50. It may also require you to submit more than one SF-50 to substantiate your eligibility. If you previously held a higher rank, you must also submit any SF-50 indicating that rank. DO NOT submit Award SF-50s and/or General Adjustment SF-50s as they cannot be used to verify class time. Note: Time-in-rank requirements also apply to former federal employees seeking reinstatement as well as current employees seeking appointment under the Veterans Employment Opportunity Act of 1998 (VEOA) . AND You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialist Experience: You must have one year of specialist experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the line of progression standard of the profession in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but not be limited to: experience advising veterans, their dependents and beneficiaries on compensation benefits, home loan eligibility, education, hospitalization, life insurance, burial benefits, career counselling, use of small business or disadvantaged business, general Social Security Administration benefit, other federal, state programs and premises for assistance and family relations. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, you must have a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate study leading to such a degree, or LL.B or JD, if related to this post. OR, Combination: Candidates can also combine education and experience to qualify for this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education equivalent to 100% of the required qualifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work performed in national service programs (eg, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and others; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student ; social). Volunteer work helps build essential skills, knowledge and abilities and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly into paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered 35 to 40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent on appropriate activities. Candidates who wish to claim such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours per week devoted to this job. Physical Demands: The job normally involves mental rather than physical exertion. Work is primarily sedentary, however, there may be walking, standing and carrying light items such as papers, books, claim files and files from office to office or returning them to storage . Carts are used to transport a large number of claim files. This will require the holder to push or pull the cart from one area to another.
