Little Rock VA to Host Virtual Benefits Event July 28 | KLRT

LITTLE ROCK, Ark – Arkansas military veterans with questions about Veterans Administration claims will have the opportunity to get answers during a virtual event.

The VA Regional Office is hosting the Virtual Claims Clinic on July 28 from 4-6 p.m., where vets can call in with questions. Callers will be able to speak one-on-one with VA Little Rock staff who are ready to answer specific questions.

“We strive to meet the needs of Arkansas State veterans and provide them with multiple ways to communicate with us. It is our duty and our honor to help them with their VA benefits,” said Sammie Quillin, executive director of the Little Rock VA regional office. “While we are hosting in-person community outreach events, we will continue to offer these virtual claims clinics as a way for veterans to reach out to us. We have such a diverse population outside of the metropolitan areas of the state and we need to work even harder to reach those in our rural areas and those who cannot reach us by other means.

Callers can discuss existing claims or learn how to file a new claim with the VA.

VA regional offices provide financial and other assistance to veterans and their dependents. This includes disability awards, survivor benefits, pensions and trust services, education and training, vocational rehabilitation and employment assistance, life insurance coverage and home loan.

The VA Disability Award is a tax-free monthly payment to veterans who became ill or injured while serving in the military, and to veterans whose service aggravated an existing condition.

To reserve a time slot for a virtual event, veterans are asked to call 501-370-3829 by 4 p.m. on July 27.

The Little Rock VA regional office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the Veterans Affairs Hotline, 501-370-3829, is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. h.

Veterans and their family members can also benefit from VAs Visitor Reporting Engagement Application (VERA), a new, easy-to-use online tool for scheduling in-person or virtual appointments with VA Benefit Advisors. More information on VA benefits is available at AV websiteor by calling 800-827-1000.
