If you are an eligible veteran or an eligible family member of a veteran, please consider joining one of the following Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) to serve after you retire from uniform or to serve in memory of a loved one. All of these organizations are currently looking for young veterans and their families to pursue their mission of helping veterans and serving the community.
Eligibility for American Legion Membership: Founded September 16, 1919. A man or woman who has served at least one day of active duty in the United States Armed Forces, not including annual training, and must present an honorable discharge (DD Form 214). Note: Overseas service is not a requirement.
American Legion Auxiliary Member Eligibility: Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives and direct and adopted descendants of members of the American Legion and grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives and direct and adopted descendants of men and women who were in the armed forces of the United States United and died in the line of duty while serving, or who received an honorable discharge (DD Form 214) and died after service. A copy of DD 214 must accompany the application.
Sons of The American Legion (SAL) Membership Eligibility: Direct male descendant, adoptive son, or step-son of a member of the American Legion or direct male descendant, adoptive son, or step-son of a veteran who died in the line of duty while serving, or who received an honorable discharge (DD Form 214) and died after service. A copy of DD 214 must accompany the application.

Rosedale American Legion Post No. 180
Characteristics: Members’ lounge, room rental, pavilion rental.
Charitable Causes: Regular contributions are made to local churches and used clothing is donated to McVet and other veterans organizations to support veterans in need. Each year, the Post welcomes a member to Boy’s State and offers $1,000 scholarships to qualified high school students entering college.
Activities: Special Wednesday night dinners, musical performances, bull roasts, crab feasts, spaghetti dinners, seafood nights, karaoke nights, corn hole league, annual Christmas party for children.
Associated Organizations: Women’s Auxiliary Unit 180 and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron.

U.S. citizen who served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days overseas during a conflict, awarded a campaign medal for service overseas or service in Korea, received Imminent or Hostile Danger – Fire Pay, and received an honorable discharge (DD Form 214). A copy of DD 214 must accompany the application.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Membership Eligibility: Direct descendant whose family member served overseas in conflict, meets the eligibility requirements for VFW membership, and has received an honorable discharge ( DD 214 form). A copy of DD 214 must accompany the application.

Features: Canteen, lounge and darts room.
Charitable Causes: National Veterans Services; Buddy Poppy Drive; Promoting Americanism; Youth programs: Patriot’s Pen, Voice of Democracy, and Scout of the Year scholarships; hospital program; safety program; Public Service; Partners with Ravens Roost 50 Foundation for Families; Feeding the Community: The Week Before Thanksgiving. We spend the day preparing and delivering a full Thanksgiving dinner to hundreds of families in surrounding neighborhoods.
