“Making $ense of Finance” Veteran Benefits Event October 13 in Port Allegheny, McKean County | Community

A “Making $ense of Finance” veterans benefits event will be held Thursday, Oct. 13 in Port Allegheny, McKean County, Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced.

Sponsored by members of the PA Military Finance Alliance, the free event for veterans and their families aims to help veterans and their families build financial readiness through a series of non-commercial financial education workshops.

The event will include sessions on what veterans need to know about benefits and services available to them, how to get the most out of veterans income and benefits, and how to prevent and avoid veteran-focused scams. This event includes free lunch and parking.

“The many systems of benefits and services for veterans can be overwhelming, so engaging and communicating with veterans and their families about what’s available to them can help them navigate what can be daunting processes. said Senator Dush.

“Additionally, our veterans have always been the target of scammers, and with the enactment of the PACT Act, there has been an increase in scams targeting veterans; anything we can do to educate and prepare veterans and their families will help reduce the risk to benefits earned in service to our nation.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Port Allegheny Veterans Memorial, Inc. at 4743 Route 155, Port Allegheny.
