Marietta Noon Lions will honor veterans with Bridge of Heroes | News, Sports, Jobs

In a show of pride and patriotism, the Marietta Noon Lions Club will line the Putnam Street Bridge in Marietta with more than 100 American flags honoring military service members and veterans in the community.

The flags will be displayed during the weeks of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Community members are invited to sponsor a flag in honor of their favorite veteran or service member. Sponsorships are $100, which includes all three holidays, and can be purchased online at beginning March 15. Due to space available on deck, only 120 sponsorships will be sold. Flags are standard size 3–5.

“The Marietta Noon Lions Club is first and foremost about service. In fact, that’s our motto: We Serve! said project president Sara Camacho. “We recognize that anything we are able to do for our community is due solely to the tremendous example, courage and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans and service members. This project is a way of inviting the community alongside our club to visibly honor these brave men and women.
