Active duty military, veterans and military family members welcome

Valdosta State University is proud to host military and veterans. The university provides educational services to active-duty service members at Moody Air Force Base, Kings Base Naval Submarine Base, and Navy Logistics Base Albany. Our department was created to help adult and military learners earn college degrees. We are committed to providing you with the best in academic advising, transition orientation, and connection opportunities for military/veteran students.


Military awareness

VSU is committed to being a “military-friendly” institution and has established several military outreach programs to ensure military students have the information and support they need. Our staff is committed to providing each student with the personal and professional resources they need to succeed in their academic journey.

Free Military Service Honor Cords for VSU Graduates

If you are participating in VSU Beginning Exercises and are an active duty military member or military veteran, Service Honor Lanyards are available to you, courtesy of VSU veterinarians and the Department of Adult and Military Programs. . Lanyards can be worn at the start of graduate school or undergraduate exercises.

To receive Service Honor Cords, see Denisha Allen at Pound Hall, Room 1202. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Georgia Board of Regents approved a resolution at its April 2012 meeting that includes a exemption from special institutional fees for all active duty military students early fall 2012. This extends the waiver that was already available to any active duty military member with approved tuition assistance from Moody AFB, Kings Bay NB and Albany MCLB. Eligible military personnel should contact VSU Veterans Affairs or VSU Registrar to obtain the appropriate forms.
