Over 135 member companies report spending over $2 billion annually with NVBDC-certified SD/VOBs and the proof is in our accomplishments.

DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, April 27, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — The National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) has established the growing need to identify and certify businesses owned by persons with disabilities and veterans ( SD/VOB) for the commercial marketplace. As the original veteran certification organization, our initiatives have focused on being the leading third-party certification body for veteran companies providing the most authenticated documentation of ownership and operational control. NVBDC has created a chain of custody directly from the government that no other organization does. Today, NVBDC is the original primary authority for third-party veteran certification with access and opportunities through enterprise supplier diversity professionals in our industry.
We know the financial hurdles that most experienced businesses face due to lack of access to capital. The NVBDC has responded to the challenges of our veterans by launching the first veterans certification program and including additional professional programs and services. Our process fully accelerates availability to help the veteran business community become part of an $80 billion enterprise market. The Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR) strengthened our position by accepting the NVBDC as the only veteran certification body to meet its auditing standards and its mission to foster excellence in supplier diversity. The proof is in our achievements.
“2022 marks several important milestones for NVBDC. Our growth has been widespread with over 2,000 SD/VOBs certified since our inception, with over 135 member companies reporting spending over $2 billion annually with NVBDC Certified SD/VOBs,” said Keith King, Founder and CEO, NVBDC.
The shift to virtual events has opened the doors to a 50% increase in SD/VOB and corporate member attendance. We look forward to breaking more records this year with our increased attendance at our upcoming conferences. The season kickoff with NVBDC Federal Reserve Connect on August 9 will be on a virtual platform. On November 2-3, NVBDC Connect: National Veteran Business Matchmaking Conference and Vet Night, we will be hosting our largest gathering of Certified Veteran Business Owners to be announced soon if it is taking place on a live platform or Virtual ; Be sure to join our mailing list for more information.
Our internal programs have also been heavily involved with the veteran community to expand our reach and share the value of NVBDC certification. Led by Lt. Col. (Retired) Kathy Poynton, NVBDC Director and Board Member, is our first highlighted program, the NVBDC Military and Veteran Organizing Task Force. The NVBDC MVO Task Force grew its membership by 200%, with 37 members and 2 honorary members, with total reach to the veteran business community in the hundreds of thousands. Our second highlighted program, led by Sid E. Taylor, NVBDC Program Manager and Board of Directors, is the JROTC Fellowship and 50 State Managers Program. This program invests in the future of our youngest soldiers and the future leaders of our country. The program has raised nearly $100,000, providing scholarships to JROTC members; 13 scholarships were awarded, including a laptop gift. The 50 State Managers program increased NVBDC’s bandwidth in 27 states across America to engage business partners, business colleagues and the veteran community. The NVBDC Services Committee, our third featured program, led by John E. Taylor, NVBDC Committee Chair and Board of Directors, has expanded our education through webinars and veteran community group discussions to help to navigate the supplier diversity process towards the veteran business community.
We’ve expanded our on-air presence by partnering with Veteran Radio to spotlight NVBDC Officers, NVBDC Corporate Members and Certified NVBDC Veteran Business Owners to tell their stories. The interviews focus on NVBDC certified SD/VOB success stories, the value of NVBDC certification, support from US companies, as well as all the stories explaining NVBDC initiatives for the veteran community. We featured Jeff King, Certification Manager, NVBDC, Bill Nelson, NVBDC Advisory Board and former CEO of HBO, and Cauldon Quinn, Founder and CEO of Bancroft Capital, an NVBDC Certified SD/VOB, and many more.

NVBDC does “that” for our veterans. We’ve shared a behind-the-scenes look at one of our standard practices with our NVBDC Disability Certified and Veteran-owned businesses. We have provided our Corporate Members with specific listings of our Certified Veteran Suppliers searched by specific criteria in our database, VOCS, for direct corporate enquiries. Then we realized that we would not alert these great opportunities for our selected veteran companies. We’ve changed the process to notify our matched veteran businesses immediately so they can prepare if their “ticket” is called for an opportunity.
Do the math, the possibility of being invited to submit a bid is extremely high as we supply experienced suppliers directly to our corporate members. We recently received a request from a corporate member that resulted in over 200 certified SD/VOBs with an opportunity that could lead to an offer. We now consider this part of our daily routine. We offer all options, chances and advantages to our certified SD/VOBs to be part of the 80 billion dollars spent in the enterprise market. We thought the entire veteran community should be aware of this standard practice that NVBDC only offers to our certified SD/VOBs. Look at the numbers for any veteran business curious about the value this adds to our certified SD/VOBs. We’ve sent over 1,700 emails to NVBDC-certified SD/VOBs with notification that they’re included on specific lists from over 100 direct business inquiries, and it’s only April! Your percentage of having a chance of winning the auction increases because you are NVBDC certified. Be sure to get certified, and then we can notify you of any inclusion in these direct request opportunities through the support of our corporate members.
NVBDC started certifying a “court” 8 years ago. We are getting stronger every day with a larger business support community and an overwhelming number of testimonials submitted by our certified SD/VOBs with their success stories. All of this is proof that our certification works. Our shared achievements with our Corporate Members and outstanding veteran businesses have helped elevate the entire veteran business community.
We’re not done yet; we are working very hard to help the SBA and the entire federal government establish a certification program for all veterans with disabilities.
NVBDC Mission Statement: NVBDC is the only veteran-owned business certification organization developed by veterans for veterans. The goal is to provide a credible and trusted certificate authority for businesses of all sizes, ensuring that there is valid documentation of veteran ownership and operational control.
