MENDOCINO CO., 11/11/17 – Mendocino County has a new Veterans Services Officer: Ulysses Lopez, who previously worked for five years as a Veterans Services Representative at the Fort Bragg County Office . Lopez is a Mendocino County native and a U.S. Army veteran. While serving as a veterans advocate at Fort Bragg, he helped veterans enroll in VA health care and connected them to pay, pension, and service-related benefits.
Lopez looks forward to using his experience to further help veterans in this new position. “I am honored to have the privilege of serving veterans in my community. I have accumulated extensive knowledge over the years to help veterans navigate the VA system when acquiring the benefits they have earned,” he said in a county press release issued. Thursday.
The press release details Lopez’s service: He served in the U.S. Army from 2002 to 2005. He received a Combat Infantryman Badge and a Presidential Unit Citation during a 15-month tour as part of of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additionally, through his service to veterans, he was named “Veteran of the Year” in 2013 for the 2n/a Assembly Quarter.
Mendocino County Veterans Services received 917 new applications for benefits and 2,468 walk-in appointments between July 2016 and 2017. If you know of a veteran who may need help connecting to allowances, he can make an appointment at the Ukiah or Fort Bragg county offices, addresses listed below:
