Resources shared at Veterans Town Hall in Mon County

MORGANTOWN, WV (WBOY) – The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center held a town hall meeting at the Morgantown Veterinary Center on Friday, September 30.

Senior VA officials use town halls as an opportunity to listen to their community outpatient clinics (CBOCs) and their patients to find out what they think is and will benefit them. They can talk about things that are going well and how they might be a good idea to implement in other facilities or departments that might need a little more work to perfect. Public servants like to be transparent about what is constantly happening within organizations.

Veterans, families, beneficiaries and, of course, VA officials gathered at what was last on their CBOC list. At this meeting, they discussed and promoted resources and information with the Veterinary Center and those present.

With respect to veterans and participants who raised concerns, they mentioned wanting better promotion of online resources and how they can get involved if they are not seen as patients. It was also said that they would like to see more attractive things about activity resources on the tables at trade fairs.

Officials listened to concerns and feedback from those who were willing to share. They assured people that they had heard them and would work to find a way to help do better in the future. Thanks were also given for sharing with everyone in the room.

Barbara Forsha, the director of the medical centre, said: “They have fought for our country, often they have given so much and so deserve the healthcare we can provide. Sometimes their service has caused them health issues that need to be taken care of, and it’s important that they know what we can do for them. Forsha added that it gives them the opportunity to grow and improve.

CBOC town halls will resume in the spring, where they will tour clinics and conclude at the offsite parent facility. They also talked about doing one in the fall.

However, they will complete town halls for this year, returning to their home establishment in the coming months. If you are interested in the full list of services offered by the medical center, you can find more information here.
