A military veterans organization will march from Burgers Park to the National Treasury in Pretoria, South Africa, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 19.

Members of the Umkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) plan to demonstrate in Pretoria on September 19. The march is being conducted to demand that the Ministry of Finance take action against President Cyril Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala controversy. Ramaphosa allegedly concealed the proceeds of a cattle sale. This large sum of foreign currency was later stolen but was not officially reported to the authorities. Protesters will gather at Burgers Park at 10:00 a.m. before marching to the National Treasury. The march must end at 2:00 p.m. Various road routes will be temporarily disrupted in central Pretoria including Vissagie Street, Thabo Sehume Street, Paul Kruger Street, Bosman Street, Nana Sita Street, Francis Baard Street, Pretorius Street, WF Nkomo Street and Madiba Street.

Police will be deployed to monitor and manage the crowd. Disruptions to road travel are very likely. Clashes between protesters and police are possible if protesters engage in acts of public violence. There is an incidental threat to passersby in the event of violence.

Avoid the protest as a standard precaution and to mitigate likely ground travel delays. Expect road travel delays in and near the protest area. Take into account the instructions of the security forces. If violence breaks out nearby, leave the area immediately and seek refuge in a non-governmental building.
