Texarkana College Veterans Services Staff Host Priority Enrollment and Financial Aid Event

As Veterans Day 2020 approaches next week, Texarkana College would like to say “thank you” for the service and dedication shown to our country by hosting a special registration event for veterans and their dependents. Becky Fant, TC veteran services specialist, said financial assistance for veterans and their dependents is available to cover tuition, but knowing the details of applying for benefits can be complicated.

“TC invites all veterans and their dependents to contact us regarding the use of their higher education benefits,” Fant said. “To help provide answers to questions and complete applications, we have set aside three days next week for veterans or their dependents who wish to enroll in spring classes. There are several steps to follow when applying for VA educational benefits and the key is to start the process early. We are setting aside priority times and dates for veterans to meet with us in person or virtually to discuss their options.

Fant said TC Financial Aid staff members provide services to Veterans and their dependents year-round, however, in order to honor those who have served our country, TC is providing extended dates and times. preferential registration for veterans and dependents on Wednesday, November 11 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Thursday, November 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Friday, November 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We encourage veterans to make an appointment with an academic advisor during the priority enrollment event,” Fant said. “Registration for Spring 2021 classes has begun and classes are starting to fill up. Once enrolled, TC provides support during the student’s educational journey by providing tutoring, disability services, and leadership training to help students achieve their dreams of earning a college-level degree or certificate. specific training.

Fant said TC’s response to provide safe and secure learning environments for students during COVID-19 remains a top priority for the institution.

“We take the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff at TC very seriously and offer students several options for course delivery,” Fant said. “Academic courses are now offered to students through a virtual and in-person option. Labor and technical programs such as nursing, welding, HVAC and construction technology, cooking, automotive technology and body repair, cosmetology, and other programs focused on career offer hybrid formats. This means hands-on training continues to be offered in-person, but class sizes are limited and in-class lectures are offered online to provide greater social distancing.
