Below is a message sent to the Drexel community on November 22:
At Drexel University, we are proud to be a yellow ribbon school and remain committed to providing world-class opportunities for all members of the military and their families. Through extensive financial benefits, academic and social programs, specialized support services, and more, we ensure that all of our active-duty military, veteran students, and military-affiliated Dragons feel welcomed. and supported throughout their time here. The excellent work of the Office of Veteran Student Services (OVSS) and their partnerships with Drexel’s Student-Veteran Ambassadors, Drexel’s Veteran Task Force and Dragon Army ROTC Task Force, as well as many other military and specific veterans are an integral part of this dedication. organizations. In order to better represent the immense work they accomplish each year, I am pleased to announce that this office will henceforth be called the Center for Military and Veteran Services (CMVS).
To serve and advocate for current Drexel students, alumni, faculty, and staff who are active duty military veterans, military reserves, or a military dependent, the Center for Military and Veteran Services (CMVS) will continue to to be a university-wide effort that provides: mentorship for our military and veteran students through the University, the community through access to Masci Family Veteran Student Fair, and a multitude of services and events specially designed for this important population. This will help Drexel provide a stronger support network for our active duty military, student veterans, and military-affiliated Dragons.
Drexel continues to receive the honor of being named a “military friendly school” by major media outlets and this is due to the exceptional support and uniquely designed resources that this center guarantees students access to. Join me in celebrating the great work of the Center for Military and Veteran Services (CMVS).
