Westminster Village Car Show benefits a local veterans organization

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two months ago, employees of Westminster Village were looking for a way to raise money for the Vigo County Veterans Association.

On Sunday, they launched what they hope will be the answer for years to come.

Westminster Village hosted its first annual car and motorcycle show, with around 25 cars registered and all proceeds going to the VCVA.

Community life director Lauren Kelsheimer said planning for the event had been a whirlwind since the idea was born.

“It happened about two months ago. It was a little idea from our admin and we just ran with it,” she said. “We’ve been planning this for about two months, we spent word about a month ago. As it’s our first, we just hope it sticks around next year as well.

The participants were entitled to cars of course, but also to food, as well as a bouncy house for the children. Kelsheimer said she was thrilled to see the turnout.

“We love seeing the community come to Westminster Village every chance we get. Whenever we can organize these big community events, we just hope that as many people as possible can come and enjoy the show or the event that we are having on that day,” she said.

Kelsheimer said they hope to have a car show each fall. The next community event in Westminster Village will be on October 15, when they host a pet adoption event in conjunction with the Terre Haute Humane Society.
